1. Outline of JICA Alumni Association

In 1954, Japan began accepting overseas technical participants, and by now, the number of participants accepted under JICA programs had exceeded 160,000.
Over the years, a host of alumni associations have been voluntarily formed by former participants wishing to maintain contact with Japan or learn more about the country. The first alumni association was set up in the Philippines in 1967, and today there are 84 alumni associations world-wide, catering for more than 40,000 members in 78 countries

In Georgia association formed in 30th of May 2007year.

Name of association is “JICA Alumni Association of Georgia”.

Alumni associations have been voluntarily formed by former participants of JICA programs.

They are Mr. Archili Tkeshelashvili, Mr. Zodiko Farkosadze, Mr. Vakhtang Farcxaladze, Mr. Irakli Jeiranashvili, Miss Ana Abuladze;

President of association is Mr. Archil Tkeshelashvili

Alumni association concentrated on activities conducive to strengthening friendship with Japan and amongst their members, for learning more about the Japan and there culture, traditions, about there interests.

Essentially “JICA Alumni Association of Georgia” members are persons who was visited Japan by “JICA” programs and was participated in some programs and seminars organized by “JICA”.

Activity

  • Annual general meeting and regular meetings
  • Issuance of an association newsletter and preparation of a member directory
  • Community volunteer activities (free medical consultation, construction of parks, seminars for interested parties and people etc.)
  • Sponsoring of Japanese culture familiarization events (Japanese language, flower arrangement, bonsai, etc.)
  • Sponsoring of Japanese film screening events
  • Pre-departure briefing for participants bound for Japan
  • Dissemination of information on Japanese ODA programs
  • Collaboration in technical co-operation needs surveys and evaluations

Friendship exchange with expatriate Japanese (hiking, sports days, etc.)
